School Visitors

Important Instructions:

All visitors must report to the School Main Gate on their arrival.

They must get their gate pass countersigned before visiting any classrooms or any other part of the school. Before leaving, visitors should return their pass at the security and sign out.

For the safety of the children, no parent/adult is permitted to go the School academic areas/ without first obtaining permission from the school office.

Uniform Instructions

1. Utmost importance is attached to the proper turnout of students, cleanliness, and correct uniform material and adherence to prescribed pattern of tailoring.

2. Students must come to school dressed in the prescribed uniform. Ornaments, jewellery of any kind or expensive watches / mobiles etc. are not allowed in the school.

3. Exemption from wearing the school uniform can be made only by the Principal on written request from the parents.

4. Students should oil their hair regularly and boys must have short hair except Sikh students. Girls must tie two plaits with ribbons. As per house ribbons must be used with P.T. uniforms. Students should keep teeth, finger nails and hands clean.

5. Uniforms are to be purchased from the school uniform store and they are as follows:

  • Any clothing containing words reference alcohol, drugs or inappropriate language.
  • Army fatigues or any types of camouflage clothing.

  • Suede shoes, boots, fashion shoes and sneakers are not part of the School Uniform.
  • Henna (Mehendi) & tattoos are strictly forbidden.

Bus Rules

Students can avail the school bus and will be responsible for maintaining discipline to ensure safe travel.

The following rules must be observed:

  • Students using the school bus stop at least 10 minutes before the arrival of the bus.
  • No student can change his/her bus route without written permission from the school office/bus-in-charge.
  • No waste/object of any discarded inside or thrown out of the bus.
  • Students will be held responsible for any damage to the bus caused by negligence or vandalism.
  • Unruly behavior is strictly prohibited. Courteous behavior is expected at all times.
  • Students are to embark/disembark in an orderly manner.
  • No student is permitted to board any other bus, he/she is not entitled to.
  • All students using the school bus will be required to fill in the indemnity form before availing the school transport.
  • Parents are responsible for bringing and taking their child from the bus stop.
  • Students will not be allowed to enter the school bus without proper Identity Card.
  • Bus fees are payable for all 12 months of the year. The fees will be charged on quarterly basis in the school office.
  • Parents will not leave the availed bus service in middle of the year, if it happens the fees for the remaining months is to be paid.
  • Payments of are to be made in advance of 3 months before the 15th of the month.
  • Late fees will be charged, if fees are not paid on time.
  • Please do not send the child if he/she is sick.
  • If parents/guardian does not come to the bus stop to pick their ward, the bus will bring the ward back to school & parents will have to come to school to pick up their ward.
  • Unruly behavior of student /parents /guardian with bus staff will result in withdrawal of bus service for that particular ward.
  • Non- payment of bus fee will result in withdrawal of bus service.

Discipline Policy

The following abridged but salient rules are for strict compliance:

  1. School Almanac
    1. The school almanac must be brought to the school every day.
    2. All entries in the almanac from the school must be signed by the parents and entries made by the parents to be brought to the notice of the relevant school staff.
  2. Attendance
    1. Regular attendance to school is most essential. The minimum requirement of attendance in the academic year is 90%.
    2. Leave of absence is given to students on prior application from the parents.
    3. All Leave applications are to be submitted on separate sheets of paper for the class teacher’s record.
    4. Students absent on account of illness are to submit valid medical certificates.
  1. Discipline
    1. The school aims at behavioral elegance and the inculcation of discipline, individually and in groups, while in school premises, functions as well as during the organized trips.
    2. Irregular attendance, neglect of homework, disobedience or disrespect towards staff or bad moral influence would lead to strict disciplinary action.
    3. Any damage to school property will be made good by the offending student(s) and would entail disciplinary action.
    4. Classrooms would be locked when not in use. The class monitor will have a key with a lanyard of the classroom. The entire class would be responsible for any damage to class property.
    5. Students should display polite behavior wherever they go. They should always remember that the school is judged by their conduct.
    6. Bullying and use of foul language are punishable offences.
    7. Students should greet their teachers when they meet them.
    8. Students are strictly prohibited from entering the school in civil dress.
  2. Punctuality
    1. All students must be present in school 5 minutes before the scheduled time.
    2. The school gate will close at 7.10 a.m. for class I to V and 8.25 a.m for pre-primary.
    3. All late arrivals without justified reasons will be sent back home.
    4. Three late arrivals in a month would lead to strict disciplinary action.
  3. Home Works and other Assignments
    1. There is a tendency among some of the weak students to skip daily home work and their assignments.
    2. From this academic year, any student who fails to complete the homework and assignment as per the schedule given by the teacher, will lose five marks from the marks obtained by the student in the next terminal exams.

Rules of Discipline

Following are the rules of discipline:

1. Attendance is compulsory on the opening day after each vacation / new term.

2. Pupils should be regular in attendance and punctual in coming to school. Children coming late regularly will invite disciplinary action. Students should be in school at least five minutes before the class. Students are liable to be sent home for coming late to school.

3. A student who remains absent on the first day of the term without a written permission is liable to have his name removed from the school roll. In case of illness it will be sufficient if a written intimation, accompanied by a medical certificate is sent to the class teacher.

4. Pupils should be obedient and respectful to their teachers. They should also be polite and courteous in speech and conduct, injurious to the moral tone of the school may lead to suspension or dismissal of a pupil.

5. It is compulsory for pupils to talk in ENGLISH in the school premises as well as school buses.

6. Rudeness towards teachers and unkind behavior towards other students in the school premises or in the school buses will always be treated as a very serious matter. Guilty students will be issued warning, may be suspended or expelled.

7. Any misbehavior, malpractice, cheating or dishonesty on the parts of the pupil will be dealt with severely. Any pupil who is persistently insubordinate or is repeatedly / or willfully mischievous, or is guilty of gross malpractice in connection with examination or of unauthorized alterations in Leaving Certificate, or who, in the opinion of the school, has unwholesome influence on his fellow pupils, may be removed from the rolls. The removal may be temporary or permanent according to the gravity of the offence.

8. All damages to the school property, especially the school furniture must be recompensated by the offender. Care must be taken of all the school property. No child should scratch or spoil the desks or any school furniture, write or draw anything on the walls or in any way damage school property. Damage done, even accidentally whether in the laboratories or in the library should be reported at once and the damage should be made good.

9. Expensive gift for the staff / return gift / friendship bands are not allowed. Mobiles and gadgets and other fancy items are not allowed. If seen with the students, these will be confiscated and a fine of Rs.500/- will be imposed.

10. No child should litter the class- room not eh school grounds. Bins provided should be used.

11. No pupil should leave the school premises for any reason without the permission of the principal.

12. The parents of the pupil who needs exemption form physical raining or games must produce a Doctor's Certificate and a written request to the Principal. It must be renewed at the onset of each academic year, if needed.

13. Pupils should not have money or other valuable articles (expensive pen, compass box, etc.(with them. Each pupil should be responsible for his / her belongings. The school does not accept the responsibility for the loss of books, money, valuable articles etc. Lost property must be claimed in the school office within 8 days.

14. Unacceptable items such as computer games, personal stereos, mobile phones, dangerous items, etc. will be confiscated and the student will invite punishment.

15. Applications for leave must be made in writing in the school leave form. Medical certificate from the treating doctor must be attached with the application for leave in case of sickness.

16. Parents should not send their child to school if he / she is not well, even in case of exams. Instead they should bring a medical certificate and a covering letter on or before the examination day.

17. Parents are requested not to ask for half day leave for their wards.

18. Chewing gum is not allowed in school at all. If found with the student, he / she will be suspended.

19. All Open House Day are to be attended in school Uniforms. Students must be in full school uniform in the school premises unless otherwise instructed.

20. School Policy on Educational Trips: As part of our curriculum, children are taken for field trips during an academic year. Parents are informed and their consent is taken in the declaration form, which you need to sign. Though the school takes utmost care of your ward's safety, the school will not be held responsible in case any unforeseen mishap beyond its control. In case of an emergency we like you to permit us to give your child first aid.

Consequences for failure to adhere to responsibilities under Discipline Policy:
1. 1st infraction : Verbal warning/ time out
2. 2nd infraction : Student completes Discipline Referral Form.
3. 3rd infraction : Conference with parents.

Early Arrival:
1. Students should not be in the school building unsupervised.
2. Students should not arrive at school any more than 15 minutes before the official beginning of the school day. There is no supervision provided for a child prior to 7.00 a.m. and non-supervision may lead to mishap; therefore please do not send your child before 7.00 a.m.

Leaving from School Early:
1. A written request, available in the School Flandbook, to hava a student excused from school early should be sent with the child on the morning of the dismissal, including the time and reason for leaving.
2. Early dismissal is discouraged, as important classroom activities take place at the end of each day.
3. As classroom time is highly valued, all medical appointments should be made outside of school hours, whenever possible.
4. For purpose of safety, a child will be released only to their parents/ guardians unless the school has been notified in writing by the parents who have granted permission for someone else to pick up their child.
5. The parent or unauthorized person, must come to the office to sign out the chid and have the student picked up from the classroom.

Healthy Practices

House and Prefectorial Board

To tap the talents in students,

EIS has four Houses:

- Sapphire.

Each student must be a member of one house.

The Houses are managed by Head Master/ Mistresses with the able assistance of House Captains and Vice Captains.

Parent -Teacher Meeting

The Parent -Teacher Meeting takes place on the 2nd & 4th Saturday in the respective classroom. Meetings run from 8.00a.m. to 10.00 a.m. or as scheduled by the authorities
